bauxite is the mineral ore of aluminium. it is the clay like substance from which alumina and later on aluminium are obtained.it is a drak reddish coloured rock formed by the decomposition of aluminium silicates. orissa is the lead producer of bauxite with 45% of country;s total production

Production and Distribution: The total reserves of bauxite in India are estimated at 27.40 crores tonnes. The major bauxite producing states in India are Orissa, Jharkhand, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Goa in a descending order of importance.
