<font color ="purple"><b>Beeswax (cera alba) is a natural wax produced by honey bees of the genus Apis.

The hive workers collect and use it to form cells for honey storage and larval and pupal protection within the beehive. Chemically, beeswax consists mainly of esters of fatty acids and various long-chain alcohols.

Beeswax is produced by the bees to build comb which is used to house their young and store honey. You get very little wax from a single honey harvest or from harvesting the honey from a rescue and by this token, it is difficult to find beeswax from small local suppliers, most beeswax comes from commercial beekeepers.

In the simplest terms, it is a wax produced by honey bees of the genus Apis. Beeswax consists of at least 284 different compounds, mainly a variety of long-chain alkanes, acids, esters, polyesters, and hydroxy esters, but the exact composition of beeswax varies with location.

Beeswax is used in lip balm, lip gloss, hand creams, salves, and moisturizers; and in cosmetics such as eye shadow, blush, and eye liner. Beeswax is also an important ingredient in moustache wax and hair pomades, which make hair look sleek and shiny.
