Benzene hexachloride is an isomer of hexachlorocyclohexane with a chemical formula C6H6Cl6. It is also known as Lindane or hexachloride. Benzene hexachloride is a coluorless solid . It is an organochlorine chemical and is widely used as an agricultural insecticide as well as a pharmaceutical treatment for lice. Some side effects of lindane are burning, stinging, or redness of the skin. In the year 1825, Faraday was the first person to originally synthesize this chemical.

Chloroform is a man-made by-product formed when chlorine is used to disinfect water. Chloroform is also used in industrial processes. It is a colourless liquid with a pleasant, non-irritating smell and a slightly sweet taste. It is nonflammable.
