Biological significance of mendel's law
It showed the pattern of inheritance of the characters from parent to the offsprings. It also provided the reasons for variation in the offsprings. Mendel's work also signifies that the characters are transferred from the parents to the offspring in the form of genes present in the chromosomes of gametes.
The Law of Independent Assortment:
This law had laid the foundation of "inheritance" which claimed that different genes assorted themselves independently of one another during gamete formation and had established the relationship between the dominant and recessive gene types.
The Law of Segregation:
According to this law when a individuals of a species mate, the copy of their genes are separated and assorted, so that each gamete receives only one copy. By the discovery of meisosis this notion was confirmed.
