Durgadas Rathore (Durga Das Rathore) (13 August 1638 – 22 November 1718 in Gwalior) is credited with having preserved the rule of the
Rathore dynasty over Marwar , India, following the death of Jaswant Singh in the 17th century. In doing so he had to defy Aurangzeb , a Mughal emperor.
Early life
Durgadas was the son of Askaran Rathore, a Rajput minister of Jaswant Singh , the ruler of
Marwar .[1]
Support for Ajit Singh
Jaswant Singh was campaigning in Afghanistan when he died in December 1678, leaving no heir. Aurangzeb took the opportunity to intervene by imposing Muslim rule over Marwar. This formed a part of the Mughal strategy to destroy Hinduism and his flooding of the area with troops was successful in denying any opposition.

Veer Durgadas Rathod was born in Marwar in the house of Karanot Thakur Asatan ji. Shravan Shukla Chaturdasi was born on 1695. In the army of Asan ji Marwar, Jodhpur was in the service of Maharaja Jaswant Singh ji. Like his father, the child was also filled with gallantry in Durgadas, once the cow of sheep riding the camels of Jodhpur state's army, Asanan ji entered the fields, even if the herdsmen did not pay any attention to the boy Durgadas, then the blood of the young Durgadas was opened and the sword of the camel was lifted immediately. When the news came to the notice of Mr. Jaswant Singh, he was excited to see that brave child and ordered his relatives to lodge Durgadas. In his court, Maharaj was surprised to see the fearlessness and courage of that brave child. Staying, Jai saw his son accepting such a big crime fearlessly, he went to Sakkaka. On inquiring about Maharaj, it is known that this is the son of Jupiter, then Maharaj called Durgadas to him and offered him a paw and reward sword and recruited his army.
