Answer:

Buffer solution:

  • These are the solution which  opposes the change in its pH when acid or alkali is added.
  • The solution which contains mixture of weak base and its conjugate acid or weak acid and its conjugate base.
  • There is an equilibrium between weak base and its conjugate acid or vice versa.
  •   BOH\rightleftharpoons B^++OH^-
  • There are two types of buffer:
  1. Acidic buffer: where pH is less than 7.
  2. Basic buffer :where pH is greater than 7

Solubility product

It is a product of solubilites of ions present in mol per litre of the solvent.it is generally used  for sparingly soluble salts. It is denoted by the symbolK_{sp}.

The solubility product can be calculated as

A_2B\rightleftharpoons 2A^++B^-

                 2S    S

Where equilibrium concentration of both the ions in the solution be S.

K_{sp}=K_c\times [A_2B]=[A^+]^2[B^-]^1=[2S]^2[S]=4S^3
