what was the citizenship amendment act ?

In India this is specifically beneficial to Hindu , Sikh , Buddhist , Jain , parsi and Christian immigrants From Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan. who have been living in the country without any valid documents. all such immigrants who have faced religious persecution in their originating countries and subsequently moved to Indian citizenship.

earlier immigrants who belonged to these there countries and six religious were mandated to stay in India for at least 11 year before being approved for Indian citizenship. now , the low has been amended so that the duration of residedney is only 5 year.

Is CAA applicable to all states is India ?

citizenship amendment act will not be applieble to the tribal areas of Tripura , Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram , as these regions fall under the sixth schedule of the coustitution . Mizoram, arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland will also be excluded from the CAA as these states have inner line permit regime.

Short note on CAA:

• CAA grants Indian citizenship to those individuals who are considered as minorities (because of their religion) and who are embarrassed, oppressed outside India.
• The CAA stands for the Citizenship Amendment Act, where Indian citizenship will be given to the minority of only three countries like Burma, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
• The bill (which later became an act) enacted on 11 December 2019 by the Rajya Sabha or upper house. There was no legislation for instant citizenship earlier but the immigration phase will be introduced rapidly with CAA.
