Answer:

Sodium Hydroxide is a caustic soda. The base obtained from the sodium is Sodium Hydroxide. The another base obtained from the sodium is Sodium oxide. When we dissolve Sodium oxide in water, we get sodium hydroxide. Sodium Hydroxide is also known as caustic soda. Sodium Hydroxide is an alkali. It means that Sodium Hydroxide is a water soluble base. Sodium Hydroxide is a strong base which is used for the preparation of basic salt and neutral salt. It is used in the neutralization reaction. Sodium Hydroxide contains 1 mole of sodium atoms, 1 mole of Oxygen atoms and 1 mol of hydrogen atoms. The caustic soda is used for making paper, glasses and soaps. The caustic soda is used in the purpose of making sodium chloride by the help of neutralization reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide.

Caustic Soda it is abbreviated as Sodium hydroxide (NaOH )( chemical formula).

The reaction by which NaoH formed

Na + H2O - > NaOH + H2

or

Na2O + H2O - >2NaOH

The Sodium chloride which is formed is basic in nature ,Colourless .Bitter in taste.

Chemical properties

Neutralisation behaviour

NaOH + HCl -> NaCl + H2O

it show neutralisation reaction in which it react with acid to form salt and water .
