Chandragupta Maurya was the founder of the Mauryan empire. He defeated Dhananda the last Nanda ruler. His court was adorned by wise men like Kautilya and ambassadors like Megasthenes. Many of Chanakya's ideas were written down in a book called theArthashastra. Megasthenes was sent to the court of Chandragupta by the Greek ruler of West Asia named Seleucus Nicator. He has given a lot of information regarding the King and the capital city of Pataliputra.
Chandragupta Maurya was known as the founder oF Maurya Empire. He extended Maurya empire from Bengal to Assam in east Afghanistan to Baluchistan in west, Kashmir and Nepal in north and Deccan plateau in south. Chanakya adopted Chandragupta Maurya and trained him. it is believed that he had 500,000 foot soldiers ,9000 war elephants,and entire army was trained well.he was married with Durdhara and lead a happy life.it is also said that Chanakya add little dose of Poison in his food so that he would not be affected by his enemies.in his last days ,he decided to give his mortal body through sallekhana.
