The civil War in sri Lanka started because of the MAJORITARIAN measures.

All these government measures,coming one after the other,gradually increased the feeling of alienation among the sri Lankan tamils. They felt that none of the major political parties led by the Buddhist.sinhala leaders were sensitive to their language and culture.as the tow community started in a argument and were not able to be convence so they started the civil War on 23july 1983 -- 18 may 2009.

Srilankan government adopted majoritarion measure to establish Sinhala Supremacy.in 1956,an act was passed to recognise Sinhala as the only official language thus disregarding Tamil.

A new constitution stipulated that the state shall protect and foster Buddhism.

Srilankan Tamils felt that none of the major political parties by the Buddhist Sinhala leaders were sensitive to their language and culture.

The relationship between the Sinhala and Tamil communities strained overtime and soon it turned into a civil war.

It started in 23 July 1983. The war lasted for 26 years.
