There are many factors and also many steps involved in this process which you will read in detail after high school.
But for now , the term is important and it means that when due to some damage , blood vessels rupture and the blood starts flowing, so as to prevent/stop the blood , blood clots form at that place .
These involve role of fibrinogen proteins and factors like thromboplastin .
So basically , coagulation is a complex process by which the blood forms clots to block and then heal a lesion/wound/cut and stop the bleeding. It is a crucial part of hemostasis - stopping blood loss from damaged blood vessels.
