a colloid is a kind of solution in which the size of solute particles is intermediate between those in true solutions and suspensions

eg:- soap solution, starch solution, milk, blood ,jelly ,ink ,egg albumin in water etc

characteristics properties of colloids

⇒ they are hetrogenous mixture

⇒ particle size is between 1nm and 100nm

⇒ particles of colloid cannot be seperated by filitration

⇒ particles of a colloid do not settle down on keeping

⇒ they are quite stable

⇒ a colloid scatters beam of light passing through it

⇒ colloid particles show tyndall effect

⇒ colloidal particles can be seperated by centrifugation method
