1. The inscription shown in the picture was found at Sohagaura in Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh .

2. It is supposed to be from the Mauryan period and the inscription on it is in brahmi script.

3. Many symbols are inscribed on it . 'Tree-in-railling' and 'Mountains' occur on punch marked coins.

4. Structure on four pillars indicates a granary .

5. The inscription records a royal order that grains in the granary must be distributed carefully. It's suggestive of precautionary measures during famine.
