Textile Industry at Osaka (Japan)
Textiles made form imported raw materials became japan's major industry. The real progress of the textile industry began after 1877, when a large number of mills were established in and around Osaka, situated near the sea coast . small steamers brought cotton to the mills.
During the Second World War,nearly 80 per cent of Japan's textile industry was destroyed.
Japan soon rehabilitated the industry on more modern lines.
Earlier dependent upon foreing machinery and techicians, the Japanese quickly developed thier own technology.
The rehabilitation strated with the developement of efficient spinning machines for using short staple fibers.
Japan also develope efficient automatic looms for weaving cloth .
Osaka became the leading center, especially for large spinning mills. It enjoys the following advantages:

a humid climate,
location on the sea coast,
ease in importing raw materials from India,China and USA,
proximity to coal and water power resources,
new and effcient machinery,
large external market of Asia and Africa,
government support ,
cheap labour,
highly skilled and qualified labour force
In Osaka, spinning and weaving operations are done in separate industrial units. Spinning is done in large mills, while weaving mills are numerous and widely scatterd.Osaka is know as the "Manchester of Japan" . The city has about 20 per cent of the spindles in the country.
The Japanese cotton extile industry is entirely dependent upon imported raw materials, which are imported mainly from India,China,Sudan,Eygptand USA.The idustry is export-oriented. The main features are low prices and high
quality.  is it okay

Osaka is the Manchester of Japan. It has plain area from which it ensures a humid climate or humidity. Since it is plain area it can also have a good agriculture of cotton since there is good cotton availablity, good climate and nice area thus the cotton textile industry remains and maintains its level at the top in the country!
