Answer:

Dandi march was the famous movement launched by Gandhiji to break salt law. As the British government imposed a tax on the salt and established British monopoly over its production, Gandhiji decided to break the salt law. So he walked for 24 days from the Sabarmati ashram to Gujarat coastal town of Dandi. He reached Dandi on 6th April 1930 and broke the salt law by manufacturing salt.

Answer:

Gandhiji started the Dandi March on March 12th, 1930 from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, a coastal town 240 miles away.

This was done because Lord Irwin refused to abolish the Salt Tax as requested by Gandhi

He marched 24 days with 78 of his most trusted volunteers

He covered 240 miles, 10 miles in one day.

Wherever he stopped, thousands came to listen to hime and he explained to them the meaning of Swaraj and urged them to peacefully defy the British

He reached Dandi on April 6th and ceremonially violated the salt law , obtaining salt by evaporating seawater.

This marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement.

Hope it helps!!!
