Answer: After the partition of India was announced, the Muslims prepared to leave the city and go to Pakistan. At the same, Hindus from Pakistan flooded the city. Since Delhi was the capital, most migrants from Pakistan preferred coming to Delhi. A large number of Hindu and Sikh refugees came to Delhi. so Delhi became a city of refugees.
