A democracy means rule by the people. The name is used for the different forms of government, where people can take part in the decision that affects the way their community run. This is generally called representative democracy .

Country needs democracy for the proper functioning of the government because democracy itself says it is the system of the government in which the citizens exercise power directly or elect representatives from among themselves in the form of a governing body such as parliament.
