DESERT VEGETATION

1. A very diversified type of vegetation is found in deserts as well.

2. The temperature usually remains above 40°C summers and about 20-30°C in winters.

3. The days are very hot and nights are very cold.

4. Only thorny plants are found in deserts as they have modified leaves for avoidance of loss of water by transpiration.

5. The plants have generally long roots for deep sucking of water under the ground.

6. Only one main river flows through the desert area known as Luni.

7. The plants found here are cactus, date palms, bushes etc.

8. Animals here have the ability to stay without food and water for many days.

9. Animals found here are camels, desert lizards, rats etc.

10. Rainfall in this region falls even less than 10cm.
