i) Roasting refers to a process by which an ore, mainly sulphide,is heated in the presence of air to make it into an oxide ore.

ii) Calcination refers to a process by which an ore, mainly carbonate and hydroxide,is heated in theabsence of air to make it into an oxide ore.
