Many Indians played an important role in building the industrial enterprises in the country by starting trade, shipping and proving finances.

One of them was Dwarakanath Tagore of Bengal who started trading in China and used the fortune to set up joint companies.

Similarly Parsis of Bombay, Dinshaw Petit and Jamshedji Nusserwanjee Tata collected wealth from trades in China and build huge industrial empires worldwide.
