Answer:

The second layer of earth is called mantle. This is the thickest layer and most of it is composed of hot and molten rocks. These are silicate rocks and have iron and magnesium in greater quantity than in the crust. Bubbles keep on appearing in this layer the way bubbles form in boiling water. Mantle keeps on vibrating in the middle portion of the earth.

Earth's mantle:-

The mantle under the crust is about 1,800 miles deep (2,890 km). It is composed mostly of silicate rocks rich in magnesium and iron. Intense heat causes the rocks to rise.

Earth's mantle plays an important role in the evolution of the crust and provides the thermal and mechanical driving forces for plate tectonics. Heat liberated by the core is transferred into the mantle where most of it (>90%) is convected through the mantle to the base of the lithosphere.

The Earth's mantle is made up of semisolid rocks. While different layers of the mantle are made of different kinds and densities of rocks, all are more dense than the crust, and the entire mantle is hot. The temperature of the mantle is hottest nearest the core, and cooler near the crust.
