Environment is everything that surrounds us, living or non-living; everything is a part of the environment. It refers to the natural surroundings on the earth and the connection between all the living species with atmosphere, climate and natural resources. It is basically everything that effects human survival.

The environment is a term that generally relates to the natural world. When we talk about protecting the environment we are generally referring to the ecosystem that supports life on the planet. Although the urban industrial environment is technically part of our environment, it is not necessary to support life on the planet and in some cases it is quite destructive towards humanity and the ecosystems on which we depend. Yes, we can pollute the environment and it will continue to be an environment of sorts but it would not be advantageous of us to do this. It amazes me that our current societal view is that money is more important than the environment. This belief system has conveniently forgotten that there are a few things that are far more important than money. For example clean water, clean air and a healthy food supply. Yes I agree that money is often required to secure these resources however it amazes me that some corporations and people are able to derive vast amounts of wealth destroying the natural environment and in the long term eventually destroying humanity itself. This is my definition of insanity.
