Hey friend,

Here is the answer :-

The epithelial tissue forms a continuous layer over the free surface of many other tissues. Consequently, it covers the external surface of the animal body and the internal surfaces of visceral organs, body cavities and blood vessels.

The epithelial tissue is classified into simple and compound epithelia.

➡ Simple Epithelia - It is formed from a single layer of cells, resting on the basement membrane. These are mainly found on secretory and absorptive surfaces.

There are various types of simple epithelia is to be found as -

  • Squamous Epithelium
  • Cubical Epithelium
  • Columnar Epithelium
  • Ciliated Epithelium
  • Pseudo Startified Epithelium
  • Glandular Epithelium

Compound Epithelia - This consists of more than one layer of cells. Being multilayered, they have a little role in the secretion or absorption but they provide protection to underlying tissues against mechanical, chemical, thermal or osmotic stresses.

Compound epithelium may be stratified covering the skin which has its superficial cell layer heavily keratinised and which protects the underlying tissues from mechanical abrasions.

I hope this will help you....
