Answer:

(1) Fullerene is an allotrope of carbon with definite numbers of carbon atoms.

(2) Fullerenes are made by heating graphite in an electric arc in an inert atmosphere of argon or helium. The soot formed contains mainly C_60 fullerene and small amounts of other fullerenes C_32, C_50, C_70 and C_84

(3) C_60 has a shape like soccer ball and called Buckminster fullerene or bucky ball. It conains twenty hexagonal and twelve pentagonal fused rings of carbon atoms. The neighbouring carbon atoms are at a distance of 143.5 pm and 138.3 pm.

(4) Fullerenes are covalent and soluble in organic solvents.

(5) Fullerene C_60 reacts with group 1 metals forming solid such as K_3C_60 which behaves as a super conductor below 18 K. It carries electric current with zero resistance.
