Hey......Glyoxysomes are specialized peroxisomes found in plants (particularly in the fat storage tissues of germinating seeds) and also in filamentous fungi. ... As in all peroxisomes, in glyoxysomes the fatty acids are oxidized to acetyl-CoA by peroxisomal β-oxidation enzymes. Although glycogen is found in the cytoplasm, that in the glycosome is separate, surrounded by membrane. The membrane is a lipid bilayer. The glycogen that is found within the glycosome is identical to glycogen found freely in the cytosol. Glycosomescan be associated or attached to many different types of organelles.....!!...✌️✌️

Glyoxysomes:-

Beevers (1961) was the first person to discover these organelles and were described later by R. W briedenbach(1967).

They are about 0.5 to 1μm in size and are surrounded by a single unit membrane.

These are found in plant cells, particularly, in germinating fatty seeds ex-ricinus(castor) and groundnut where fat is being converted into carbohydrates by process called glyoxylate cycle.

  • Glyoxysomes contain two enzymes, isocitrate lyases and maltase synthetase along with several others.

  • Structure of glyoxysomes are similar to peroxisomes.
