GREEK INDEPENDENCE:

• Since the 15th century, Greece was a part of the Ottoman Empire.
• Nationalists of Greece gained support from other Greeks who lived in exile.
• Adding to this, many other West Europeans who had sympathy for Greek also supported.
• Greek was lauded as 'the cradle of European civilization' by poets and artisans.
• An English poet, Lord Byron organised funds and went to fight wars but died in 1824.
• And finally, The Treaty Of Constantinople of 1832 recognised Greece as an independent nation.
