Greenhouse effect:

  • It is defined as a natural process in which the earth's surface gets heats up by the planet's atmosphere; above what it would be in the absence  of this atmosphere.
  • Here the radiation from the sun enters the atmosphere and a few are reflected back and remaining are absorbed and re-radiated by various greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide.
  • Deforestation, burning of fossil fuels, emissions from vehicles and Industries are the various causes of greenhouse gases.
  • Greenhouse effect adversely effect the climate. It increase the earth's surface temperature which results in the melting of glaciers and ice caps in Antarctica and also ocean surface gets heat up.
