1)himachal have an average height of around 3700 m to 4500 m above the sea level and extend over a width of 50 km.

2)The ranges are mainly composed of highly compressed and altered rocks.

3) All the important hill stations such as Dalhousie, Dharamsala, shimla, mussoorie, nanital,and darjeeling belong to this range.

Himachal takes its name from the Himalayas. Himachal literally means 'Land of snowy mountains'. Himalayas, the great mountain system extends almost 2,500 Km., from North-West to South-East and width of Himalayas is between 250 to 300 Km. The Himalaya constitute the highest mountain system of the world.
