India’s foreign policy is now aiming to expand its global footprint by tactful diplomacy, to develop its image as economic and cultural superpower and as a security provider in Asia-Pacific region, through different policies for different allies:
Collaborating with USA to take over a bigger role in security Asia-Pacific region to counter the expansionist claims of China, and also using this influence to gain entry into NSG/ MTCR groups
Planning regular engagement with powerful, antagonistic China with more FDI inflow, cultural exchanges (Takshila University) and tactful diplomacy to avoid any more Doklam like incidents
Engaging with strong democracies like France, Canada, Australia and Japan through business delegations, nuclear and solar energy initiatives, infrastructure projects (like bullet trains), buying defence equipment and improving remittances from Indian diaspora
Supporting the democratic process in its neighbours like Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar by aiding community development process, training local police, investments in their infrastructure sector etc.
