Cultural and economic relations between China and India date back to ancient times. The Silk Road not only served as a major trade route between India and China, but is also credited for facilitating the spread of Buddhism from India to East Asia.[1] During the 19th century, China's growing opium trade with the East India Company triggered the First andSecond Opium Wars.[2][3] During World War II, India and China both played a crucial role in halting the progress of Imperial Japan.[4]

The People's Republic of China (PRC) was established on 1 October, 1949. India was the first non-communist country to establish an embassy in PRC. Indo-China relations were going good until China invaded Tibet. India considered it as an "Act of forceful Intervention". Due to Chinese interventions, Dalai Lama along with Thousands of Tibetians seeks asylum in India. China demanded from India to return Dalai Lama back but India refused. So, China attacked India and captured Aksai Chin and some parts of NEFA(Northeastern Frontier Areas) in 1962 war. After war, China came closer to Pakistan. In 1967, both countries fought two battles in Sikkim, the "Nathu-La incident" and "Cho-La incident". After that, leaders of both the nation tried to resolve their issues but didn't get succed. At present both countries have ups and downs in relationship and both countries are concentrating on their respective growth stories. Recently, both nations are the part of SCO, BRICS and SAARC. Right now, China is India's largest trading partner with bilateral trade of 90 billion dollars. Also, India and China will going to hold 70 celebratory activities for 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and China in 2020-21 and taken agreement on trade deficit and border dispute.
