The Jacobin Club was officially called the Society of the Friends of the Constitution. Its members were from the less prosperous section of society. It was the most radical response to the revolutionary crisis. It took up radical measures which included price controls and food seizures. It worked for spreading revolutionary ideas across the country.
There was a
triangular slave trade between Europe, Africa and America in the 17th century.
Merchants from French ports sailed to Africa coast and bought Negroes from the
local chieftains. Port cities like Bordeaux and Nantes flourished economically
due to the slave trade. The Jacobin Club wanted the welfare of the slaves and said
that the demands of the slaves should be fulfilled.
