The Jallianwalah Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar Massacre was a massacre that happened in Amritsar, in 1919. It is named after the Jallianwala Bagh [Temple] in the northern Indian city of Amritsar. On April 13, 1919, British Indian Army soldiers started shooting at an unarmed gathering of men, women and children. The person in charge was Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer, the military commander of Amritsar.

The shooting lasted about ten minutes. According to official British Raj sources, 379 people were killed.

The Jallianwala bagh massacre was happened on 13 April,1919.On this way a public meeting was announced to protect against the rowlet act 1919. This act empowered the government to put people in jail without any trial for two years.People were assemble at Jallianwala bagh park at Ameristar. This park enclosed on three sides by high walls.

On 13th April 1919 people gathered there to protect against the arrest of two national leaders'satyapal and saifuddin kitch law'. The meeting was peaceful.There were many old man ,women and children in the meeting.

suddenly a British military officer 'general dyer' entered the park with his troops without even giving a warning to the people to dispress,he ordered his troops to open fire.

Troops fired at the unarmed croud for 10 minutes and assitimated 1000 people were killed and about 2000 wounded.

The bullet marks can be seen still on the walls of the Jallianwala Bagh which is now a national memoriable
