In 1669-70, the Jats of Mathura region rose into rebellion against the the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb who tortured them..Gokala, a local zamindar became the leader of the rebellion . He was captured and executed by the Mughals​. After his execution also the rebellion went on and ended with the death of Aurangzeb.They consolidated their powers and establish a Jat state at Bharatpur.
