Krishna or the Krishnaveni River is the longest river in the central-southern India. The 1,300 kilometers long river has its source in Mahabaleshwar and it flows in the Bay of Bengal. It drains the three states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The most tributaries of River Krishna are Tungabhadra, Dudhganga, Ghataprabaha, Malaprabaha in the right and Munneru, Halia, Bhima in the left. Some of the important dams built on this river are Almatti dam, Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and Dom Balakwadi dam.
