Answer: Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the leader of the Sikh Empire, which ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. He survived smallpox in infancy but lost sight in his left eye. He fought his first battle alongside his father at age 10.He was born on 9 November 1780, Gujranwala(Budrukhan), Pakistan.He died on 27 June 1839 in Lahore, Pakistan.He was given the title Lion of the Punjab,He was the founder and maharaja (1801–39) of the Sikh kingdom of the Punjab.Ranjit Singh was the first Indian in a millennium to turn the tide of invasion back into the homelands of the traditional conquerors of India, the Pashtuns (Afghans), and he thus became known as the Lion of the Punjab. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was Bhatti Jat.Shah Shuja Durrani who gave Kohinoor (mountain of light ) diamond to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh- the founder of Sikh kingdom. Shah Shuja was the descendant of Ahmad Shah and he brought back Kohinoor to India and gave it to Ranjit singh and the later helped him in acquiring the throne of Afghanistan.
