The “medieval period” of India is marked from 8th Century CE to 18th century CE. It is further classified into “early medieval period” (8th century to 13th century) and “late medieval period” (13th century to 18th century). The medieval period was characterized by rapid migration, increased in population, “invasion”, and “movement” of people from the urban region to rural areas. The events that marked the “beginning” of this period is the death of king Harshavardhana and the end of this period is declination of the “Mughal Empire” and invasion of “British East India” company.
