The mesophyll is the name given to two layers of cells inside of the plant's leaves. The first layer, located under the epidermis but above the second layer, is the palisade parenchyma cells. This layer is inundated with loads of chloroplasts, making it the layer most directly responsible for photosynthesis.

Answer:

Mesophyll

the inner tissue (parenchyma) of a leaf, containing many chloroplasts.

The Mesophyll is found between the upper and lower epidermis; it aids in gas exchange and photosynthesis via chloroplasts. The xylem transports water and minerals to the leaves; the phloem transports the photosynthetic products to the other parts of the plant.
