NATIONALISM IN INDIA: THE STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM
Nationalism in India in a major concept in our Indian history about the feeling about collective belonging and one nation during the freedom struggle, when India was colonised by the British. This explains in brief about the movements, acts happened during the struggle of freedom, The freedom fighters who helped our country to get freedom. This struggle of freedom started during the time of First World War which started on [1914 and lasted till 1918], which was creating a major impact in world economy and especially our new Indian economic and Political situation.

This means that British were involved in World war 1 and indirectly India had to suffer for this because our country India was under control of the British rulers and Indian Army and youngsters from Indian villagers were forced to fight in World war supporting British. Our country India faced various problems during this period. The increasing taxes and defence expenditure → “financed by war”. Prices were certainly increased and doubling during this period, this was a extremely hard time for poor people in our country, Crops in many parts of India didn't grow because British forced Indian's for cropping Indigo which makes the soil very unfertile after this is cropped first and this also causes major problems in the year [1918 to 1921]. This event was also known as “Influenza epidemic”.

After seeing all this struggle the Father of our nation - “Mahatma Gandhi Ji” appeared and he suggested people of our country a new way of freedom struggle without using weapons. His brilliant ideas against Britishers like “Idea of Satyagrah” against their rules, After Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa on January, 1915. He made 3 main successful Satyagrah, In 1917 (In Champaran in Bihar) to support peasants to struggle against the oppressive plantation system. In 1917 “Kheda” affected by crop failure and a plague epidemic, 1918 in Ahmedabad to support the cotton mill workers and forcing Britishers to ask them pay more for the workers. After seeing this Satyagrah 's Britishers started to be against Mahatma Gandhi and did the following acts – The Rowlatt Act , Non-Cooperation moment (Salt March), Differing stands within the movement, Rebellion in the Country side, Swaraaj in the Plantations, Civil Disobedience moment and many others moments happened place to place within our Country.
