Noble gas compounds can be formed from noble gases. When the noble gases are used in cold cathode tubes to produce light, each of them has a different colour. Since Radon is radioactive, it is usually not used for lighting.

The noble gases, in order of their density, are helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon and radon. They are called noble gases because they are so majestic that, in general, they don't react with anything. For this reason they are also known as inert gases.
The noble gases are used in industry in arc welding, to dilute the oxygen in deep-sea divers' gas tanks, and to fill light bulbs.
