write a short note on nucleus ???
Answers
Answer:
The nucleus is one of the most important cell organelles found in eukaryotic cells. It is a membrane-bound organelle that contains the entire genetic information of the cell. Historically, the nucleus was one of the very first cell organelles to discovered and documented.
In 1911, Lord Rutherford, a scientist from New Zealand, conducted an experiment in order to find the arrangement of electrons and protons in an atom. His experiment led to the discovery of a small, positively charged nucleus in the centre of the atom.
Rutherford bombarded a thin sheet of gold with alpha particles in an evacuated chamber.
He saw most of the alpha particles went straight through the foil, but some were deflected slightly & some by large angles.
Conclusion- An atom on the whole is relatively empty but consists of a concentrated positive mass in the centre, which lead to the deflection of the alpha particles.
