The Parliament of India is the supreme legislative organ of India. It is composed of President of India and the two houses--Lok Sabha (Lower House) and Raj Sabha (Upper House).

The Lok Sabha has a sanctioned strength of 545 members while as those of Raj Sabha has 245 members. The members of Lok Sabha are being directly elected by the people and that is why it is called The House of People. On the other hand, the members of Raj Sabha are elected by the elected members of Union territory and state legislatures. The Lok Sabha is more powerful than the Raj Sabha.
