Lord curzon became the Governer general of India in 1898. he tried to suppress the movement -  the swadeshi movement but failed. He pationed Bengal in 1905. he told that it was for administrative purpoese but the real reason wast to seprate the muslims and hindus, the leaders of the congress party and the nationalist leaders firmly opposed the partition.
