☆ Plastic-
Plastics are the polymers made up of very large number of small monomers joined end to end in order to form a long chain.
The present age is also known as the " Age of plastic " . it is because almost all the domestic items are now made up of plastic such as - bucket , mug , chair , cabinet , container combs and so on .
plastics are basically carbon compounds. They are tough when cold and soften when it is melted or on heating. therefore they can be easily moulded in a desire shape or form .
☆ Plasticity -
The property in which a substance can be easily moulded into sheets or drawn into fibres on heating. this property is basically plasticity .
☆ There are two types of plastics-
● Thermoplastic
● Thermosetting plastic
☆ Thermoplastic :
Plastics which get deformed easily on heating and can be bent easily are known as Thermoplastic.
For example- PVC ( polyvinyl chloride ) and polythene .
☆ Thermosetting plastic :
Plastic which once moulded into a particular shape do not become soft on heating and cannot be deformed again is called Thermosetting plastic.
For example- Bakelite , melamine and formica.
