DrDr. B.R. Ambedkar wanted to have separate electortes for Dalits. So he founded Depressed Class Association to demand for separate electorates. He even put this demand in the 2nd Round Table Conference because he thought that the social disabilities of Dalits would collapse through Political Empowerment. Hearing this,Mahatma Gandhi took into a fast till death and then Dr.B.R. Ambedkar agreed for Reserved Seats instead of separate electorates. This pact between Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi is known as Poona Pact.
