Isotopes have the same atomic number, similar chemical properties but different atomic masses. Based on the periodic law, an isotope is an element, which must have a separate place in the periodic table. However, there are no places for isotopes in his periodic table.

Answer:

there was no position given to isotopes in the Mendeleevs periodic table as in this table Grouping was done by atomic mass of an element

while in modern periodic table Grouping was done by atomic no. not by atomic mass and atomic no. of isotopes remain same as the element. No sepcial place was given to isotopes in modern periodic table.
