The Project elephant was launched in the year 1992 by the Karnataka government . The main purpose it was to save the Asian elephant in the state and to support the wildlife management . The aim was to save the elephants and enable them to increase their population while living in their natural environment . This project was also aim at the research about elephant as well as their ecology. The elephant was supposed to be protected firstly by creating awareness among the general public. This project actually mainly being implemented in the total of 16 state which includes Tamil Nadu ,Andhra Pradesh ,Assam and Maharastra etc.
