‘Project Tiger’ was one of the well published wildlife campaigns in the world launched in 1973. Initially it has shown an increase in tiger population till 1989 but in 1993 the tiger population had dropped. There are 27 tiger reserves in India covering an area of 37,761 sq. km. Tiger conservation has been viewed not only as an effort to save an endangered species but with equal importance as a means of preserving biotypes of sizeable magnitude

'project Tiger' Or tiger project is the symbol of homour the tiger because tiger is the indication of biodiversity in Indian subcontinent. Tiger project is the project governed by government of india with the main objective to care after of tiger to maintain the number.

• Such place where there is natural collection and conservation of tiger is called tiger reserve. At present the number of such tiger reserve is 25 which was previously 9.

• At present total number of tiger approximately 50000( data based on 2006).
