A SHORT NOTE ON PURANAS.

• The Puranas are texts of religion which are comprised in the Sanskrit language and are orally narrated for centuries before being put down from the second century CE onwards.

• They are aspects of the religious literature of the belief of Hindus that are also composed of the Brahmanas, Vedas, Aryayankas, Upanishads, and incredible epics.

• The initial form of worship of Hindus was focused on the ritual of yagna or sacrifices in Vedic. The gods of the Vedic age were associated with natural happenings. such as Indra being known as the god of thunder and rain, Vayu being known as the god of wind, Agni being known as the god of fire, Surya being known as the sun God, and Chandra is known as the moon god.

• The Puranas included descriptions of Gods and Goddesses, such as Durga, Vishnu, Shiva, Parvati etc. They also included elements of how and why they were worshipped. Moreover, there were statements about the composition of the world and monarchs.
