Raja Ram Mohan Roy was an Indian reformer who worked against the sati system. He founded the Brahmo Samaj(formerly known as the Brahmo Sabha) in Calcutta. People such as Rammohun Roy are described as reformers as they felt that old practises needed to be done away with.
