He was assended the throne in August 1854 till 1885. Maharaja Ranbir Singhwas a Persian Scholar. He tried to eradicate the illitracy from the state and promtion of education recieved due attention. He encrouraged religious education through the study of classical languages such as - Persian; Arabic and Sanskrit
